After the ban of AP from the White House's press conferences for the stupidest reason, I would like the rest of the press corp to stage a protest in solidarity by not show up the next time .

Show some spine please and ask the hard questions without fear knowing you'll have the support of your colleagues and we the people ❤️

Jim said it right a few days ago when he referred to the Lord of the Lies, and the lies spewing forth from a hydrant. We see the press corp asking a question and the response is a stream of lies, and they treat it as though it is a legitimate answer.

I couldn't agree more. The press needs to object and ask for evidence. Don't let him get away with the lies. Sure, it will lead to more lies but eventually he makes himself look like the idiot that he is.

So why ask the question? The pressers are a joke. I refuse to watch/listen anytime speakers from the wh speak. I turn it off. I can't watch any media including Pod Save America where they deem they have to makes us listen to this BS. The minute I hear his or his sycophants voice I turn it off. If you want to paraphrase his idiocy I'll listen, but I have no need or desire to hear the BS spewing from them.

Instead I am going to DC to join the protests that the so called media is not reporting. Thank god for Meidas Network for giving us true info.

I actually contacted the White House Correspondents Association and sent an email to support the AP. Show some backbone and stop acting like the elected Democratic Senators who are still voting to confirm Trump's nominees. The AP is first, next week it will be another news organization. Then no one will be left. What don't they get stickers that say Gulf of Mexico and wear them . Do something ! Thank you for this show. I am going to be honest Mr Costa- I really loved and admired you when you worked for CNN. This totally independent journalist is "to the moon" !

Fake News is not going to do that, and if legit news sources do that, they are only hurting themselves and us.

MJ, if you think that for the privilege of being admitted to the White House and to fly in the AF 1 , journalists should ask stupid questions, accept no answers as answers and shrug their shoulders when colleagues are punish for trying to share real information to we the people, we are definitely on different pages.

MJ's avatar

That is not what I said. Do you honestly think the white house cares if legit news doesn't show up to cover news??

Ricardo Grinbank's avatar

This is not about if the White House cares or not, it's about journalists doing an honest job or not. I'm not taking this back and forth personally MJ, please hope you do the same and keep enjoying each other post and replies. 😀

I can help fight back, Jim and Norm. I worked the Federal bid market for 40 years. Trump anticipates kickbacks from Elon on Federal contracts. Run this up the flag pole. It impacts every single Federal BID that Musk currently has in progress, and also every potential future bid. At issue is insider information. You cannot bid if you hold insider information, or if the appearance is the same.

Every bidder competing against Musk has recourse outside of the bid-letting agency. When a bidder suspects there will be an unfair bias in the agency, they can bypass GAO and file in federal court to disqualify Musk, a Musk company, or a Musk team via subcontract or joint venture. Federal court judges will decide on the insider information issue, not the Executive Branch employees.

What I foresee is no more Federal contracts for Musk. I don’t even see how he can be awarded a sole source extension to an existing contract. I see $ for lawyers. Jeff Bezos has a strong protest play here.

But it is happening completely out in the open. He is a felon running the country like a mob boss, and the completely corrupt Republican Congress is his team of accomplices just as criminal as he is. His DOJ, SCOTUS, Jesus Christ, how can this be? How can it be stopped even if we do get fed up with this. WHAT IS THE REMEDY?

Jim, I really appreciate your show and the leap you took leaving CNN. You are part of "the solution."

In regard to the conversation you had with Ezra Levin about the Democrat Representatives and Senators wanting to present an air of moderation, I ask this; Did the Democrats gain anything by throwing my Senator Al Franken under the bus? NO. We lost a great fighter in AL and I am still sorry to see him go.

To Ezre's comment, their "reasonable response" to up-voting some cabinet nominees is an unfortunate echo of their Franken strategy – It gets us nothing because Republicans have no ethics, morals, no sense of fairness. They only want to gain, keep and grow power.

IMO, James Carville was a great Democratic strategist in normal times but these are not normal times. I think Democrats need to adopt the McConnel playbook and gum up every works they can put gum into. Steve Schmidt would be a great person to have on your show. I have come to really like this top-flight Republican strategist and patriot and feel he could be a strong voice in impacting change with Democrats "strategy" to fight these MFers tooth and nail.

Keep up the good fight Jim!

In regards to the discussion about school shootings….. my niece is a teacher at Antioch High School in Nashville. I was beside myself trying to locate her when news of a shooting hit the airwaves. The loss of life is unimaginable & horrendous in all of these incidents, as well as the severe trauma inflicted on students and faculty. @jimacosta

I can only hope that the Judge overseeing the Eric Adams case refuses to dismiss the case when they finally find a stooge at DOJ to file it. What Trump/Bondi/Bove are doing is simply beyond the pale.

Mr. Acosta - You're the first Substack I've subscribed. I spontaneously hopped on at the beginning and could not pull myself away. I'm so glad you are doing your own thing and speaking the straight up truth. I cried with you about the gun violence our children face daily. And I laughed and cheered when you said that the "Gulf of America" (and AP journalists being banned!) is "just stupid". Hell yes, brother, hell yes.

I think Trump should have his office restructured too; he should be able to survive with his phone and a secretary. Vance and the rest of them can as well. No private jets no budget/funds. They are such “brilliant” people they should have no problem with these cuts that match those our governmental departments, veterans and health agencies are facing. Trump and all with him should repay the Treasury for their Super Bowl appearance and Trump for his regular golf outings. Are we paying him to golf? Government efficiency needs to work at all levels, including at the White House.

Also, so far you’ve only interviewed men. Do you plan to interview any women?
